Word on Wednesday: Jeremiah 33:3
Several months ago, my husband brought home some new cordless phones to replace our old set whose reception had grown rather glitchy. The new phones get crystal clear reception, which means now we can actually understand what people who call us are trying to say.
The only problem is that this new set does not have a flashing red light to indicate a missed call or voice message.
Consequently, I can sometimes go weeks without realizing I have messages waiting and calls to return. So if you’ve tried to call me and never heard back, now you know why.
I’ve had to write myself a reminder to daily check that line for messages, and even then I often forget to do so.
Fortunately for us, God is not that way.
When we call unto Him, He hears. He’s always home. Always ready to accept the call. Always willing to answer. Ever eager to help. Ever ready to provide for our needs.
And He has promised to do exactly that:
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not.” (Jeremiah 33:3)
Isn’t it a comfort to know that when we pray, we never have to wonder whether God got the message?
This week’s verse can be found in the third set of our Scripture Memory Flashcards:
And for extra practice on Jeremiah 33:3 (and other passages), I’ve made more handwriting printables, as well:
Plus, in case you missed them, here are links to the first two sets of flashcards and practice sheets, too:

May God honor your efforts to hide His Word in your heart!
I love today’s illustration included with the scripture!! Those illustrations get better and better!! I love the last part of that scripture too. It has to be known that there are things that we don’t know!! Yes, I like hearing that! We don’t know, let’s go call on God and He will answer us and show us great and mighty things that we don’t know!! Most precious is the fact that the speaker of these words about “call to Me” is God Himself letting us know: “Give me a call, and I’ll answer and I’ll show you…”
