Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible (Timberdoodle Review)
If you have lots of little ones peering over your shoulders during Bible time like we do, you’ll want to check out The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible.
This is another of the books Timberdoodle sent me to review this winter, and I really like it for several reasons.
My Favorite Features of The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible:
First, the format is a little bigger than most of the other children’s Bibles we own, so it’s easier for the kids on the far ends of the couch to follow what’s going on in the story. 🙂
Second, the text is simple enough that our older kids can read it to their younger siblings and nephews (or the older nephews can read it to them, as is happening in these photos).
Third, the author tells the stories in an interesting way, even though he uses simple language to do it. This is important to me, because I get easily bored reading some literature targeted to kids. Not so with this volume.
Fourth, the illustrations are appealing, with lots of bright, vibrant colors used in a detailed but uncluttered way.
The children and I both like that.
Fifth, the authors summarize each story with a single, doctrinally sound, take-away truth, such as those you see pictured here:
- God’s plans are good.
- He watches over His people.
- God will fight for us.
- God always listens to our prayers.
- He died instead of us.
The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible can be purchased through Timberdoodle. Their price is already discounted, but you can save even more by joining their Doodle Dollar Program, so be sure to sign up while you’re there.
This looks like a great beginner Bible!
It is, Mary Anne! It covers most of the major Bible stories in an engaging and easy-to-understand format. I really like it!
