I Will Lie Down and Sleep (Coloring Page)
This week’s “Scripture Sunday” coloring page features Psalm 4:8. “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.”
The psalmist knows what we sometimes forget: that safety depends not upon the absence of danger, but upon God’s abiding presence. It’s a good reminder to us in the midst of riots and pandemics and a world of uncertainty.
None of those things are causing me to lose any sleep. Because I know that, just because these things are beyond my control, does not mean they are out of control. The LORD is still on His throne. And we can place our hope and trust in Him with confidence. Scripture bears this fact out over and over again.
Our peace is found only in God
- “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)
- “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
- “And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” (Colossians 3:15)
- “These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
