Abe Lincoln on the Bible (Free Coloring Page)
February 12 is our 16th president’s birthday, and I can’t think of a better time to share this coloring page featuring what Abe Lincoln said about the Bible.
Lincoln stated unequivocally, “The Bible is the best gift God has given to men. All the good the Savior gave to the world was communicated through this book. But for it, we could not know right from wrong.”
I certainly can’t argue with that. God’s Word is His greatest gift — especially in light of the fact that Christ Himself is called the Living Word of God.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome a it…. The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.” – John 1:1-5, 14
More Bible verses on the Word of God
Scripture has much to say about itself. Here are a few of my favorite passages:
- “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12
- “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path.” – Psalm 119:105
- “As for God, His way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.” – 2 Samuel 22:31
