No Shadow of Turning Coloring Page
Today I’m sharing a brand new, hand-drawn printable I hope will be a comforting reminder of God’s unchanging nature. I call it my No Shadow of Turning Coloring Page, and it features James 1:17 — “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.”
When I was in high school, I dated a guy who loved giving gifts. I remember one year for Valentines he sent me a different present every day for a week — long-stemmed red roses, boxes of candy, hand-crafted items, 75 red helium balloons — on and on for seven straight days.
But then he moved off to college and forgot I even existed. No letters. No phone calls. No visits. Nothing. I’d go months and months without so much as a single word from him. Then summer hit, and he was ready to pick up where we left off, which I found a little unnerving.
Thankfully, there is never that kind of disparity with God. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) He gives and gives and keeps on giving, lavishing His grace upon us despite the fact we’ve done nothing to deserve His love and kindness. (Ephesians 1:7-8; 2:8-9)
Aren’t you relieved to know His love for you is so constant and unchanging?
Incidentally, my old boyfriend and I broke up after that summer of mixed signals. What’s more, both of us eventually found spouses better suited to our individual personalities. And I’m happy to report that the man I married is not only a generous gift-giver, but is also a great communicator. So I never have to wonder where I stand in his list of priorities. 😊
