Hidden Systems Review

Dan Nott’s Hidden Systems is a fascinating book for kids — and parents — of all ages.

My grandson volunteered to help me review the book last time he was at my house. His verdict: “It’s really cool!”

Hidden Systems tackles three broad categories and breaks them down into bite-sized pieces using simple text and engaging images to make them easier to digest.

The three systems under consideration are water, electricity, and the internet.

The plentiful pictures makes it easy to follow the simple text and increases understanding.

Hidden Systems even includes a little poetry, like Emily Dickinson’s verses in praise of electricity.

It’s a thick book, but still a quick read. A motivated student could finish it in a day or two.
