Handmade Mushroom Garland

Abby has not slowed down her crafting whatsoever, so I have a backlog of her creative endeavors waiting to be shared with you. She came up with the idea for this cute little mushroom garland on her own and has made several to hang in her room, across the windows and over her bed.
But they make adorable Christmas ornaments, as well, and she and I made a dozen or so individual mushrooms to hang on a Thanksgiving tree I put up in October and November. (You can see photos of that here.)

Instructions to make a mushroom Garland
These mushrooms make beautiful ornaments as well as a cute, nature-inspired garland. Follow these step-by-step instructions to make one of your own.

Supplies You’ll Need
- Cuties
- Dremel
- knife
- red and white paint
- thin gold wire
- twigs
- twine
STEP 1 – CUT & DRY
Cut around the peel of the cutie then peel the peel off and eat the cutie. Now let the peels dry by the window sill for a couple days until no longer squishy. Note I like to let my peels dry upside down like a cup to hold the circular shape.

STEP 2 – DRILL & PAINT
Once dry, drill a hole in the top of the orange peel. Then drill a hole on the side of the twig towards the top. Now you can paint the orange peel red with white dots.

STEP 3 – ATTACH HANGER
Thread both ends of the wire through the hold in the orange peel, leaving a small loop at the top for hanging. Push one end of the wire through the stick, then twist both ends of the wire together to secure.

STEP 4 – FINISH
Thread the wire loops of the mushrooms onto the twine, tying a knot at each one to keep them evenly spaced along the twine. Hang your new garland across a window or doorway and enjoy!
