Word on Wednesday: Amos 5:24
The year after we moved to Tyler, the Parks and Recreation Department built a new skate park. That was 17 years ago, back when we had a garage full of rollerblades and a house full of aspiring stuntmen (including my husband, who probably should have known better).
He drove our sons to Noble E. Young Park the week it opened, and they watched enthusiastically as fellow skaters made flying up and down those half-pipes look easy. So Dad invested in a brand new skateboard for himself, then returned to the skatepark to try and imitate what he’d seen.
Unfortunately, the very first time he got that new board rolling, he crashed and broke his arm. He was in no shape to roll again for months after that. (He couldn’t comb his hair, either, which prompted him to get a crew cut that he’s worn pretty much ever since).
Fortunately, there’s no such fitful starts and stops to God’s justice and righteousness. It just keeps on rolling on and on and on, like a flowing river or a stream that never dries up:
“But let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:24)
This week’s verse can be found in the fourth set of our Scripture Memory Flashcards:
And for extra practice on Amos 5:24 (and other passages), I’ve made more handwriting printables, as well:
Plus, in case you missed them, here are links to the first three sets of flashcards and practice sheets, too:
- Scripture Memory Cards – Set 1
- Scripture Memory Cards – Set 2
- Scripture Memory Cards – Set 3
- Memory Verse Copywork – Set 1
- Memory Verse Copywork – Set 2
- Memory Verse Copywork – Set 3
And I’ve also uploaded a progress chart to help you keep track of which verses your child has already memorized (some of the verses listed are from sets of flashcards that will be published in the future).
May God honor your efforts to hide His Word in your heart!
“But let justice roll on and on like a river, righteousness like a never ending steam! Boy, I can really feel the roll on and on with the rollerskates image!! We had roller skates when we were children. They attached to our shoes! As an adult, living and working on my own, a couple of times opportunity came to rollerskate with a youth group. I remember skating one time and I could see some of the fancy skating others were doing on the rink. I asked the Lord as I skated, if He would show me how to to do some of what I had seen, and He did!! It’s was so satisfying skating WITH God!
