WOW: Hebrews 12:12-13
I got up during the night a couple of weeks ago and accidentally stepped on something sharp. I jumped back in pain, but since we were in a hotel room at the time and I didn’t want to wake the rest of the family, I just felt around in the dark, trying (without success) to find what had stuck me.
Unfortunately, the pain persisted. I hobbled around for a week, expecting it to get better, but it didn’t. Finally — eight days later — I went into a local clinic and had it X-rayed. This is what they found:
No wonder it hurt! I’d been limping around for over a week with the needle still stuck in my foot!
The doctor numbed up my foot, sliced it open, and dug the foreign object out. Thankfully, it was the sewing kind of needle, not a hypodermic needle. I did get another tetanus shot, though, just to be safe.
Even with the incision and the stitches, my foot feels so much better now! And my family has taken excellent care of me as I recuperate.
The experience underscores the importance of making straight (and smooth!) the path for our feet. I’m so grateful that my limb was not permanently lamed, and that my foot now seems to be healing up nicely.
All of which reminds me of this week’s memory verse is Hebrews 12:12-13
“Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed!”

Delayed understanding is what has been happening here too! It’s a lot colder now at the end of October; waking often to frost on the ground. Our garden is a container garden on the back porch. I haven’t wanted to put the garden away for weeks now, but today is the day. The Lord showed me that I didn’t really want the season to change did I? But the seasons are changing and the garden that once was must be put away until the season returns again.
Surpisingly, as I finished reading today’s post about the needle in the foot removed, I heard a train whistling in the distance! Not once, but twice!! Maybe ten years ago now, a church north west of us has asked that whenever you hear a train whistle, pray for revival!! Revival! Yes, we ask in agreement, and believe for revival Lord!! Revival, sweet revival!! Jesus is alive!!
We don’t hear many train whistles where we live, but that’s a great idea about connecting prayers to specific “random” events!
