My Beloved is Mine Coloring Page

In honor of Valentine’s today, I thought it would be nice to share a coloring page that celebrates love and marriage. The one I settled on is from Song of Solomon 6:3 which says, “I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine.”

That idea of belonging to one another is not a very popular one among feminists today, but I love the oneness and unity it represents. And I don’t understand how any couple can experience the kind of love and marriage God intended without it.

Verses about oneness in marriage:

We see this idea of unity underscored in several other passages from both the Old and New Testaments, including the following verses.

• “For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.” (Genesis 2:24)
• “So husbands ought also to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself;” (Ephesians 5:28)
• “The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise also the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.” (1 Corinthians 7:4)
• “I am my beloved’s, and his desire is for me.” (Song of Solomon 7:10)

How Do I Love Thee?

Happiness in marriage is not so much a matter of chance as it is a matter of choice. Choosing to be happy means choosing to think on things that are good and noble and right and lovely and pure—including your spouse’s most positive, admirable, and endearing qualities. Our marriages can’t help but benefit when we discipline ourselves to do this. That’s the purpose of this journal in a nutshell.
