These cards are super fast and easy. Let your kids make several to send to friends and relatives, or affix them to the front of Christmas presents or gift bags for a pretty wrapping treatment. Kids love working with sequins and glitter, and there is lots of room in this project for creative expression and variations on the theme.
Supplies You Will Need to Complete This Craft:
- cardstock or construction paper in white and red
- a bottle of white school glue
- green glitter (or glitter glue)
- gold self-stick star (or cut one from yellow paper)
- assorted sequins
- a hole punch (optional), plus scissors or a paper-cutter
Do It Yourself By Following These Simple Steps:
Cut a piece of red card stock to desired size (approximately 4″ x 6″). Cut a piece of white card slightly smaller and glue in the center of the red, leaving a red border of uniform width all the way around.
Use the bottle of glue to lay down the zig-zag shape of a tree, skinny at the top and wide at the bottom. Be sure to leave enough room at the top for a star and even more room at the bottom for a planter box.
Sprinkle green glitter over all and let dry, then shake off excess. If more than one child is working together, you can shake glitter off one card onto another. This will conserve glitter and minimize the mess. Young children may need to let glue dry before proceding.
Cut a small square or trapezoid from red card stock and glue underneath tree to form a pot. Affix a gold star to the top of the tree. Glue on sequin ornaments (or use red circles cut from card stock with a hole punch). Allow glue to dry, then use your picture to decorate a card, package, or gift bag.
