Party Preparedness Pop Quiz (Free Printable)
Our entire family loves Christmas and parties and games — and Christmas party games. In this post series, I’m sharing a dozen of our favorites:
We call today’s game “A Party Preparedness Pop Quiz.”
Several years ago, my daughter called home from college to ask if she could borrow one of my (many) Christmas sweaters for a holiday party she was attending.
I was briefly flattered, until she let it slip that she’d been invited to a so-called “Ugly Christmas Sweater Party.” The point? To see which attendee could wear the ugliest, gaudiest, most over-the-top, sparkly, spangly, bejeweled and bedazzled Christmas sweater imaginable.
And my sweet girl figured any of Mom’s holiday sweaters stood a good chance of winning!
A Different Era
Turns out, my daughter wasn’t able to make a trip home to pick one up before the party. So she borrowed something from a friend’s mom.
I saw the pictures she posted on social media. That mom and I have similar taste.
The loaner sweater was lovely, and my daughter looked cute as a button wearing it.
I may be showing my age here, but I remember a time when everybody wore festive holiday attire all season long. Moreover, they dressed all their children to match, with candy-striped stockings and pom-pom trees plastered across their chests. I loved it.
It was during that era that today’s game made its first debut. Back in the day, it was not uncommon for a party guest to score 85-90% on this little survey:
What goes around comes around
If ever there was a game perfectly suited for an “Ugly Christmas Sweater Party,” our “Party Preparedness Pop Quiz” is it!
Whether your guests are dressed in holiday clothes and Christmas sweaters because they like them (that would be me) or because they’re making fun of them (my daughter and friends), you can pop out this little quiz at your next party to see who really came prepared. Consider offering a prize to the guest who shows the most holiday spirit!

This is just what I was looking for. We started a quilting group at my church and I needed Christmas games for our party. Most of the group is older than 70 so they can’t run around, or move around a lot. These games will be great!
That’s wonderful, Karen. I love quilting, too. Hope your group has a wonderful time playing. A lovely Christmas to all of you!
Thank you for listing these Christmas games. I had no idea what kind of game to play at our ladies lunch. You save the day.
Thanks Gail
You’re welcome, Gail. Happy to help!
Blessings to you and your family. Thank you so much for the game ideas. I use them for monthly senior activities, and they love them.
Thanks for letting me know, Nancy. It warms my heart to hear that.
