National Anthem and US Pledge Printables
Did you know today is National Anthem Day? In celebration of the day and in honor of our wonderful country, I thought I’d share a couple of new resources. Namely, our National Anthem and US Pledge Printables.
The song actually has four verses, but the first is the one they sing at parades and political conventions and ball games.
If you live in the US and haven’t taught your children the words to “The Star Spangled Banner” yet, today would be a great day to do that.
And while you are at it, make sure they know the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance, as well:
Back when I was growing up, we began every school day by standing at attention and reciting the pledge. There was a love of country and a respect for authority and a civility of manners instilled in us that is sadly missing today. What’s worse, it isn’t only school children who are lacking in the respect and civility department, either, but adults and political candidates and government officials, as well. And that grieves me.
“Make America Great Again” is a worthy goal, but to make it happen, we need more than a slogan on a baseball cap worn by a candidate bent on bullying anybody who disagrees with him.
No, if America is to ever return to greatness, we must first commit to praying for our country, and then we must elect to office men of integrity who are committed to upholding the Constitution. (That’s why I choose Cruz.)
